Imagine Portsmouth will be launching a citywide consultation so everyone who is passionate about the city can have a say on the future vision. The citywide Imagine Portsmouth consultation is planned for summer 2020.
We had to put the Imagine Portsmouth on hold temporarily because of coronavirus. That doesn’t mean it’s not important. In fact, it is more important now than ever as the vision created by the people of Portsmouth will help provide a guide for the many organisations that will be working together to help the city to recover from the effects of the pandemic, so we all focus on what is most important.
Preparing for the citywide Imagine Portsmouth consultation
Hundreds of people from across the city and its communities have contributed to the project, talking about their priorities for the future of Portsmouth and contributing to some possible themes.
In early March, we held a citizens’ conference, attended by a broadly demographically representative group of almost 100 residents, who considered the opportunities and challenges for our amazing city, and built on those themes with some fantastic ideas and suggestions.
Before the pandemic, we would have then used all the feedback we’ve gathered so far put together some of the main ideas for the vision that we would have shared with the whole of Portsmouth for a city wide consultation.
We still plan to do this later in the summer, but first we think it is important to check whether priorities have changed as a result of the pandemic. So, we have done some further research with the citizens’ conference attendees on this. We will use this feedback, along with all of the views shared through the hundreds of conversations that have happened so far, to create a citywide consultation.
Details of the consultation will be published on this page, so watch this space.
